About the art
Emil Finnerud's art is idea-based, post-medium, post-conceptual, and is based on research and appropriations. Art historically, Finnerud is inspired by everything from the Baroque and Romanticism, via DADA and the situationists, to minimalism, Pop and concept art. In terms of craftsmanship, the artist has recently focused on sculpture, installation and silkscreen printing. The works are based on a conceptual approach with an overarching idea that should reflect society and reality.

These silkscreen prints are an extension of Emil Finnerud's project «Death Drive».

"Death Drive" is based on Sigmund Freud's speculative idea of the human death drive.
It is freely associated with the Greek tragedy genre, futurism, the bourgeoisie and the baroque. The motifs are car parts taken from Porscher that have been involved in a major collision or crash.
